After several months of hard work, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Equal Opportunity Hires (EOH), our social impact initiative. At its core, EOH is a job search platform focused on connecting a diverse talent pool of job seekers directly with employers committed to equal opportunity hiring. Although we’re certainly not the first diversity-focused job board in the space (we hopefully will not be the last!), we believe we’re different than existing players in a few important ways:
Only Direct Job Seeker Traffic
Job aggregators have killed the candidate experience. So with EOH, we are completely removing the middleman.
The emergence of programmatic advertising and job aggregators has commoditized job seeker traffic and clicks. While this has created some positive aspects in terms of lower costs, the total candidate experience has been greatly hindered. With hundreds of job aggregators now selling and reselling job seeker traffic, candidates may find themselves in a messy web of redirects, bouncing from one job board to another. As they navigate the unpleasant process, they are constantly prompted for contact information, while often never landing on the job they were originally interested in.
Nefarious players in the job aggregator space have created poor experience for many candidates, which should be particularly concerning for diversity focused job boards. So EOH only accepts direct-from-employer job feeds, with no aggregators or “back-fill” jobs allowed. Simply put, when a candidate finds a job on EOH and clicks apply, they are immediately directed to the employer’s ATS, which is a win for both the candidates and employer.
Flat Monthly Fee for Unlimited Jobs
While programmatic job advertising and other “pay for performance” models have their advantages (and we use both with our recruitment marketing clients), we feel strongly that EOH’s pricing model should be based on a modest monthly fee ($499) for unlimited jobs. As our mission is to connect a diverse pool of talent with employers, anything that may get in the way (e.g. per-click or per-application fees) we find to be counterproductive. We also want to have a low barrier to entry for employers as we build up the site and job seeker traffic. We’ll never charge for applications or clicks: Just one flat monthly fee to host all your organization’s open roles.
Community Partnerships
Lastly, but most importantly, EOH plans to give back to the community. One of the more unique aspects of EOH is our approach to partnering with community organizations and nonprofits. Many of these organizations directly serve within the communities that employers are seeking hire, and some even have (albeit limited) job search functionality built into their website. Participating nonprofits and community organizations can embed an EOH search widget into their website, making it easy for underrepresented audiences to easily connect with truly forward-thinking employers who are committed to equal opportunity hiring.
Our EOH widget easily embeds into these websites, and rather than charge a fee for participating, we plan to donate 15% of our monthly proceeds from Equal Opportunity Hires back to participating non-profits and community organizations.
We have big plans on the build-out of our Equal Opportunity Hires as we grow, from additional candidate resources around upskilling opportunities to showcasing our employer partners’ commitments to DE&I initiatives.
But starting somewhere begins with Equal Opportunity Hires.
